This design was inspired by the Asian dragon which has a snake's body, rooster claws and stag antlers, and doesn't breathe fire. The dragon holding a golden ball is a common theme in Japan--the gold ball has evolved from a myth about a pearl, but here it represents the sun, which often finds its way into my zodiac prints. This "Dragon" is an edition of 75 prints plus 7 AP's (artist's proofs).
The artist's initials 'BW' are at the bottom of the print in the form of a red snake (the artist was born in the year of the snake).
It is made from 4 blocks: black, red, blue and gold. The ink is sumi (Japanese ink), water based pigment, and gold acrylic.
The print comes mounted in 8 x 10 conservation mat.
