The year of the Ox is also known as the Year of the Cow, so I have made both.
Although there are two colours in the print (black and grey), it is made from one block. To get the grey the carving in the body is shallow so that the baren (printing tool) doesn't press against it as it's being printed, but the paper gently falls into the inner area. (Please note: This results in minor variation from print to print.)
It is made from layers of sumi ink brushed on to a carved basswood block. The udder is embossed giving it a 3 dimensional appearance.
The print comes mounted in 8 x 10 conservation mat.
