Ox horns are too expansive to fit into the 1.5 x 4 inch combo print format. Since oxen have a history of being yoked together I got the idea to design two oxen side by side, with horns entwined. This accidentally resulted in a very complex design. Can you see the third ox that appears in the upper middle of the image? Or the dancing woman, arms raised above her red circular head?
It is made from many layers of sumi ink and water based pigment brushed on to three hand carved basswood blocks (black, dark grey, light grey/red).
The print comes mounted in 8 x 10 conservation mat.
